It is best to start the Caucasian mountain dog’s training as soon as you possible. Take not that this particular breed is capable of learning as early as eight weeks old. Generally, it is a very smart and a self-governing kind of dog so training it would require great amount of patience, firmness and consistency. Stay away from harsh words or ruthless methods of learning.

The best way to train a Caucasian mountain dog is to attend to him every single time he barks at a face pace. If it barks over something that is just normal like the approaching mailman or a passing jogger you have to tell him “No” sharply and give a little spank, remember be gentle. But the dog is barking over an out of the ordinary occurrence like someone who is forcedly opening your gate then praise and reward like a dog biscuit is in order. Just be consistent and steady on the feedback that you give to your dog and it I will eventually come out of it like it is something natural. If you want faster result, ask some people to help you, say for example – you are training your dog not to bark on the mailman, ask your friends to come and drop letters on your mailbox and walk away as what mailman do. Through this you have more opportunity to apply the punishment and reward strategy to express what is proper stimulus and those that are not.
